Bradbury's classic novel of an evil carnival that comes to a small Illinois town began life as a short story, "The Black Ferris", first published in 1948. Bradbury later developed the story as a screen treatment for Gene Kelly, but the film was never made. However, some twenty years after the novel was published, Bradbury wrote a new screenplay which was filmed by Jack Clayton. In 2003, Bradbury mounted his first stage production of Something Wicked. His stage script was used as the basis for the 2007 Colonial Audio Theatre full cast dramatisation of the story. |
